This unique large open lagoon is brackish and often has a strong current. Named for the manatee who swam in its waters over the many years. Increased activity at cenote manatee over the years has reduced chances of seeing them as often as in the past, however their peaceful spirit remains. It is located in the middle of the mangroves, very close to the ocean.
With open areas, this cenote is perfect for novice divers and offers lots of wildlife from the flooded land and the sea, it also has a cenote halocline and beautiful lighting effects. Sometimes you can see raccoons that are living in the mangroves who sneak out and grab some bread from the guys working there.
